Gifting 101

Twenty7Events planned a fun graduation party this past weekend. Along the way, we kept getting questions from the family regarding gifting. Should I buy her something or should we give her cash? We tend to get this question a lot regardless of the type of the event so we decided to blog about it.

Our first response is: give what you can afford. Whether it’s a graduate, wedding, or birthday most people appreciate the cash. They can allocate it towards the “start up” fund. If you don’t feel comfortable giving cash or setting an amount, try something memorable. Here is a list of some not-so-traditional gifting ideas:

Weddings:

Frame their invitation (the one you received in the mail) with a personalized note from you inside the frame as well.

Get them an activity for their honeymoon. This could range from a couples massage, horseback riding, skiing lesson, boat tour, etc. This will range depending on their honeymoon location.

Car service to the airport to or from their honeymoon is a great present. This way the couple doesn’t have to worry about bothering anyone to drop them off and they get to continue the feeling of their special day!

Graduations, Birthdays, etc. :

A framed picture of their current graduation side by side with a previous graduation or a childhood picture. **This can get tricky if you don’t have access to family photos.

A domain name for them to showcase their portfolio.

A keepsake box filled with that day’s newspaper, a bottle of wine (current year), and a wine opener.

USB ports always come in handy too!

Check out some ideas with USB ports and other tons of fun stuff in different categories on http://www.perpetualkid.com/. Have something specific in mind? Shoot us an email and we can brainstorm together!
